The Hydro Maya Power Project Bill provides for certain exemptions from taxes and duties to be afforded to the producer, Hydro May Limited. Section 3 of the Bill provides for the producer to be exempt from Income and Business Tax, Customs and Excise Duties, General Sales Tax, and Stamp Duties for twelve and a half years.

The exemptions, however, as outlined in section 4, “shall apply only to such activities of the Producer as relate directly to the Project.” According to the Bill, the commencement date was to be September 8, 2019.
