Blueprints for Capital Market in Belize
The “Blueprint for Capital Market Development in Belize” outlines the steps to be taken to establish Belize’s secondary market for securities. Developed in coordination with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), following an initiative of the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the focus of the study is to provide general guidance to capital market development, as well as to analyse the current state of the local market.
In addition to the analysis, the study also looks at challenges that Belize faces, as well as the preconditions that need to exist for a securities exchange to be effectively advanced. The study also provides policy actions and measures to help facilitate the process.
The BCCI is certainly grateful and appreciative of the assistance of the IDB in its continued willingness to assist and support the development of the Belizean economy, and specifically as it pertains to this pivotal work.
All stakeholders, particularly those who work with or intend to work within the financial sector, are encouraged to review this report, as it certainly serves as a key starting point for necessary discussions and works that could assist in finding solutions to the access to finance constraints faced by the private sector.
